Zainab Al Ghonimi is the head of the centre of research and studies for the defence of Human Rights. The centre objects to many of Hamas’ policies, most notably the obligation of women lawyers to wear the headscarf during trial. Along with other women’s rights groups, Zainab has pushed Hamas on this point. “The policy of Hamas is to try and impose regulations quietly”. Zainab utilizes the media to help get her voice heard. She is among the few women in the Gaza Strip today, who does not wear the headscarf.
