Who and what is Hamas?

Since the Israeli military occupation of the Gaza Strip in January 2009, Hamas has become the key negotiating group with Israel in the area. A terrorist group for some, a resistance movement for others, Hamas remains a key mediator in resolving the Israeli- Palestinian conflict.

On May 1st, 2004, three Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), five Central Europe countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia) and two Mediterranean (Cyprus and Malta) have joined the Union.
