Zakarya Najeeb, 56, was one of the prisoners freed in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. As a member of the Izz ad Din al-Qassam Brigades, he was arrested in 1994 for the kidnapping in Jerusalem of Nakhchon Faksman, an Israeli soldier, on October 11, 1994. Faksman died during the Israeli army attempt to free him. Zakarya Najeeb was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
