Shukri, 38 and his wife and children have been living in a ten square metre room with no hot water and sporadic electricity for eight years. On December 12, 1999, the family was forced to flee their home in the north of the city. Although Mitrovica was under UN administration and Shukri’s population was promised protection by the KFOR, his home was still burned down by Serbians.
