Nermen Heles, 15 years old was born in Gaza but has lived in Canada, where she holds a Canadian passport. She came to visit Gaza in December 2008 before the beginning of the war. She has been stuck in Gaza since this date along with her family. In Canada, Nermen did not want to, nor did she wear a head dress. Her family gave her the choice. But in Gaza, she is forced to heed to social pressure. She waits impatiently, with her family, for the day when they will return to Canada. Hamas has once again refused their latest attempt to leave Gaza, a request to exit through Egypt. Nemen is a part of many Palestinian families in Gaza who have ties to Fatah.
